Sang In Kim's white porcelain series continues to be made in a soft white color called "solbaek" (snow white) .
This piece has a soft luster of white glaze. This pot features a floating bat motif. Bats are auspicious symbols that bring happiness, wealth, and longevity. Their rounded shape feels comfortable in the hand, and they make a statement just by placing them on the table.

SANG IN KIM
Drawing quietly on the memory of Joseon white porcelain while seeking a form of hakujī that resonates with contemporary life, the artist pursues the enduring possibilities of both “white” as a color and the vessel as a form. At their own kiln, Heinyo, every stage of the process—from preparing the clay to firing and final finishing—is carried out in an unbroken, hands-on practice, with a continual gaze fixed on depth, nuance, and restraint.
In 2014, the artist exhibited at Maison & Objet. In 2016, they were awarded the Presidential Prize at the Korea Crafts Competition.
