SANG IN KIM / Kim Sang-in
Born in Daejeon, South Korea in 1976. He began frequenting pottery studios during high school and entered Chung-Ang University Graduate School, where he completed his doctoral studies in design. After graduating, he apprenticed under ceramic artist Lee Gee Jo and trained as a live-in craftsman for 12 years. He went independent in 2010 and opened his current kiln in Anseong in 2012. He has been working on methods to redesign the style of Joseon Dynasty white porcelain for a modern era, and exhibited at Maison & Objet in 2014. He won the Presidential Award at the 2016 Korea Crafts Exhibition. He is known for his "Snow White" series, which has a soft, luminous quality.
