SANG IN KIM solo exhibition
Seobak - Solbaek -
MIN GALLERY is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Japan by white porcelain artist Kim Sang-in , who is based in Anseong, South Korea .
Kim Sang-in has been quietly honoring the memories of the Joseon Dynasty while exploring how white porcelain can resonate with modern life.
At his own kiln, Heiinyo, he carries out all processes from making the clay to firing and finishing in one go, and every day he continues to explore the depth of the color white and the possibilities of the pottery shape.
This exhibition will bring together Kim Sang-in's white porcelain, which he continues to create in a single soft white color known as "solbaek" (snow white) , ranging from tableware to vases exuding tranquility .
"White is not simply the absence of color, but one of the infinite colors that exist."
Kim's pottery, as she says, is snow-white with a faint blue tinge, and exudes both a dignified presence and gentleness.
The aim is to create a piece that will give you a moment at the end of your life when you can think, "This was the ideal white." Please come and see the world of white porcelain woven by an unwavering gaze and sincere handiwork .
