MIN GALLERY will be hosting its fifth exhibition of bamboo artist Toru Hatsuda.

The tradition of white bamboo and soot bamboo has been passed down since the Edo period.
Hatada's work is an innovative expression of

This time, we will also be introducing the works of lacquer artist Mirei Seki.
This beautiful jewelry incorporates traditional lacquer techniques such as maki-e, raden, and lacquer into modern decorative art.

Profile
Toru Hatsuda Imitating the techniques and aesthetics of traditional bamboo crafts, he creates works that give a sense of the "modern" time, focusing on tea utensils. He has been selected for the Eastern Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition for two consecutive years, and his work "Sensujimoriki" is in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria. He has exhibited many times both in Japan and abroad.

Mirei Seki
In 2008, she graduated from the Department of Crafts at Tokyo University of the Arts, and in 2010, she completed her graduate studies at the same university's lacquer art laboratory. Since her graduation project, she has consistently created accessories using lacquer. In 2019, she won the Herbert-Hofmann-Prize at SCHMUCK, the world's largest international contemporary jewelry exhibition, and her work has been included in the collection of a museum in Norway. She continues to be active both in Japan and abroad.
